Consultation Conclusion Announcement: CMBI Multi Asset Index and CMBI Total Market Index Annualized Trade Value Ratio Calculation 

Coin Metrics announced today the conclusion of the market consultations regarding the proposed update to the CMBI Multi Asset Index Series and CMBI Total Market Index Series.

Following the consultation period, which closed on August 29, 2025, Coin Metrics received no material objections or feedback from market participants.   This absence of response is interpreted as a general consensus and confidence in the proposed methodology adjustment.  

The Annualized Trade Value Ratio Calculation for determining asset eligibility as part of the CMBI Multi Asset Index Methodology and CMBI Total Market Index Methodology will include trades denominated in USDC or USDT. This adjustment allows the eligibility assessment to better represent and judge the liquidity of asset markets by considering a broader volume range.

This methodology update will take effect beginning with the September 2025 index rebalancing. The updated calculation approach is detailed in the consultation documents for CMBI Multi Asset  HERE and CMBI Total Market HERE.
