Each month, we highlight digital assets whose trading markets are approaching the criteria for inclusion in our pricing and market data coverage, based on the Coin Metrics Market Selection Framework and Trusted Volume Framework. These frameworks help assess whether an asset has sufficient real trading activity and dependable data across exchanges to make it suitable for standardized market analysis.
Market Selection Framework: This framework is a process used to evaluate whether a particular spot market (a traded asset pair on a specific exchange) reflects trading activity in a transparent and representative manner. Constituent markets approved through this process are used as inputs for Coin Metrics prices.
Trusted Volume Framework: This framework evaluates exchanges to assess whether the volume observed reflects genuine market participation versus artificial or low-quality activity, measuring dependability using observable metrics such as transparency, resilience, security, data quality, API quality and regulatory compliance. Talos uses this framework to select venues for inclusion in Coin Metrics’s data offerings.
This Month’s Movers & Shakers
Below are the protocols whose trading markets are expected to meet the criteria of both frameworks during the month of March 2026.
World Liberty Financial USD (USD1)
What it is: World Liberty Financial USD (USD1) is a fiat-backed stablecoin enabling on-chain access to U.S. dollars.
How it works:
- USD1 reserves are managed by BitGo Trust Company, registered in South Dakota, and provides monthly attestations of the total reserves and tokens outstanding of USD1 across networks.
- Users can obtain USD1 through centralized and decentralized exchanges. Approved users can deposit assets with BitGo to directly mint new USD1.
Token utility:
- USD1 can be used to transact value with others across networks and deposited into decentralized exchanges or lending pools to earn yield.
Vaulta (A)
What it is: Vaulta is a smart contract platform that offers multiple networks and resources to build and interact with financial applications.
How it works:
- Vaulta is composed of Vaulta Native and Vaulta EVM. Applications can be deployed on both networks and provide different functionality for developers and users.
- Vaulta Native is secured using Savanna Consensus to ensure sub-second finality. EOS uses three different resources (RAM, NET, and CPU) to avoid inefficient resource allocation from inactive, or long-term, token holders.
- Vaulta growth and development is driven by the Vaulta Foundation, Vaulta Labs, Vaulta Network Ventures, and elected block producers.
Token utility:
- The A token can be staked with the network to earn rewards for securing transactions and data storage.
- There is a fixed supply of 2.1 billion A tokens. EOS tokens can be swapped for A tokens at a 1:1 exchange rate. The migration is a brand evolution.
